American artist Aaron Young was born in San Francisco and now calls New York home. His artworks examine the after-effects of dynamic and even dangerous performances. He hires participants stereotyped as marginalized rebels, like skateboarders and motorcycle riders, to perform various stunts in exhibition spaces on specially designed platforms. Young’s work has been exhibited at prestigious institutions, including the Gagosian and Saatchi galleries. The Yale graduate’s work was first introduced in Lebanon last February, during Aïshti’s “Time is Now” exhibit, when his massive, untitled canvas featuring a flag was unveiled. Another untitled work of Young’s will be auctioned off during the Heartbeat event on May 5. Proceeds from the auction will go to Heartbeat, the Lebanese nonprofit organization for children with congenital heart disease.
