What lies beneath should be just as chic

For most brides, the search for the perfect dress is the most exciting part on the march to the Big Day. But once that gorgeous gown has been chosen, the soon-to-be-Mrs. still has many sartorial choices left to make – from headpiece to jewelry (not to mention, hair, makeup and nails).

Footwear and lingerie are tops on the bride’s style checklist, which makes perfect sense given the walk down the aisle is typically the most dramatic part of the ceremony, and the honeymoon is usually the most hotly anticipated (as least by the couple). The good news is Jimmy Choo just launched a bridal collection, and Agent Provocateur’s new bridal lingerie is ready for primetime.

Jimmy Choo stilettos have walked countless red carpets, snuggling the pampered tootsies of legions of A-listers and style lovers. Now brides can get that same well-heeled glamour as they say their I-dos. And so can their bridesmaids and mothers.

As one might expect, Jimmy Choo’s bridal styles are filled with sexy and sophisticated stilettos, sandals, pumps and, yes, even flats (and an ankle boot named Donita). Materials featured on the classic platforms and peep-toes include vintage lace and silk satin; Swarovski crystals also decorate several styles for an extra touch of bridal bling. However, a beautiful champagne glitter fabric – available on several styles – is quickly becoming the house signature. (Also worthy of note: a small selection of bridal bags are part of the collection.)

Once the shoes come off, and all the guests have gone home, Agent Provocateur takes center stage. Like the rest of the high-end British retailer’s spring/summer 2012 collection, a romantic air characterizes its new bridal lingerie. A perfect marriage of sensuality and sophistication shines through in all the pieces. A range of luxurious white and ivory lace briefs, thongs, bras and corsets constitutes the idyllic sexy layer to wear underneath the wedding gown.

One of our favorite pieces is the elegant Honesty, a boned white corset in matte silk taffeta with vintage-inspired gathered appliqué. Padded cups, a lovely skirted hem, detachable shoulder and suspender straps, and a design made to enhance an hourglass silhouette make this beauty a versatile and special wedding look.

Sassier brides should slip into Teasle, which comes in bra, brief and all-important garter styles. All-over ivory lace is paired with pale blue taffeta ribbons, but the super soft and fluffy marabou pom-poms are the key to tickling his fancy.

Now what? Find something borrowed and something blue!
